- Contrary to the schedule, we will not be covering section 13.7 today (or at all).
We will finish the Kirby Puckett example on p.551-2 (in which there is an error; the likelihood function L_0 is missing the binomial constants in the probabilities) and we will cover the material about testing independence and homogeneity in 13.5.
There are no changes to the homework.

- Exams have been graded and will be returned in lab today.
Most of you did really quite well (mostly A's and B's) and you should be proud of your efforts.(Posted April 10, 2007)
- Homework 8 cancelled: it will not be due next Wednesday. Enjoy the weekend, and recover from the exam stress. Note that Homework 9 has been slightly added to. See the homework page for details.

- On the takehome, problem 3b, I meant it to be alpha=0.2. It works with alpha=0.02, but with this change part d is a more sensible question. So if you haven't done this problem yet, use alpha=0.2 instead of alpha=0.02.

- For the exam:
You will need a calculator with basic functions (more complex calculators OK unless they can
communicate with other calculators wirelessly).
You may bring one sheet of paper with formulas or other notes on both sides.
There may also be multiple choice questions about the meaning of sufficiency, consistency, and efficiency.See the schedule to see exactly which sections we've covered.
I expect to be in my office (Ford 471) most of the day today and tomorrow, should you have any questions. If you want to be sure I'm here, email ahead of time.
(Posted February 13, 2007)
- A practice exam for the first exam has been posted. Also, we are only covering the first half of section 9.12 on efficiency, not from exponential families on. This also means for suggested problem 9-57, only part a.
