using other Statistical Packages

Two potential resources are available:

  1. Data files for all the examples and problems in the book that can be used with any statistical package.
  2. Get a primer.

The data files

The data files should be downloaded to your computer. If your program will read files created by JMP (files with extension ".jmp"), SAS (files ending with ".sas7bdat") or SPSS (files ending with ".sav"), you can download the files for those programs using one of the Links at the left. Many programs can read data files in Excel format, and all can read plain text files, although in some programs reading plain text files is surprisingly difficult. You can get any of these versions of the files from the
data page.

The primer

Primers have only been written for the five packages listed at the left. If you are using a different package, you may still find one of these primers helpful, or, we admit, you might find them too confusing to be helpful.

If you write supplementary material for a different program, let us know, and we will add a link to your material for others to use.
