Sep 24 3 2, 6, 7, 12, 16, 19, 25
Oct 1 4 2, 7, 8, 9, 13, 18, 28, 29, 34, 35 See below about using Rweb
A 1, 2, 3, 4 Chapter ``A'' refers to the handout.
Oct 8 4 39, 40, 47 If you use Rweb for Problem 40, get SSResid and r2 as explained on the regression in Rweb page
A 5, 6
5 4, 6, 10, 13, 14, 15
Oct 15 6 2, 7, 11, 18, 20, 23, 28, 29, 30, 38 Use a Q-Q Plot for Exercise 38 instead of what the textbook calls a "normal probability plot".
Oct 25 7 2, 3, 4, 14, 15, 16, 19, 25
Oct 29 7 26, 27, 28, 31
8 1, 2, 8

Dec 3 10 21, 25, 29, 36, 39, 41 Use the computer for 25, 29, 39, 41.
Dec 10 11 2, 5, 6, 8, 12, 21, 23, 39, 43, 45 Use the computer for 8, 21, 23, 45
(If the book asks you to "calculate" something, and the computer just does it, that's fine. Also note the answers in back of the book are wrong for problems 23, 45.)
Dec 15 11 26, 28, 33, 51 Use the computer for 33 and 51 as explained in the sections on prediction intervals and confidence intervals for the regression function and diagnostic plots of the course Rweb pages. For problem 51 also make a Q-Q plot of the standardized residuals, and explain what it shows about possible outliers or nonnormality.

Note: If using Rweb to do homework the "dataset URL" you need for the homework problems have the form

     http://superior.stat.umn.edu/~charlie/3011/ex0402.dat
This is the data for Exercise 4.2. The "04" in the file name is for Chapter 4, and the "02" in the file name is for Exercise 2 of this chapter. All the file names are constructed this way.

You can see what data have been made available by looking in this directory

     http://superior.stat.umn.edu/~charlie/3011/
If you see a file with the exercise number in its name, you can use it to do the exercise.

To figure out the variable names used in the file, see Finding the Names in a Dataset.
